Biography

I am currently recording 13 new songs in a combination of studio and home sessions in order to stretch my budget. Possible album title “What Would Once Have Been Failure May Now Be Success”. Cast so far includes Laurie Keating on drums and Warren Greaves on bass.
I have been musically active since 1994, living in Brisbane, Australia and writing original songs and arranging them for solo and band performance.

PUBS and FOLK FESTIVALS

Some performances have involved a 3 and 4 piece outfit playing at the Melbourne Hotel, the Royal Mail Hotel at Goodna, Burke's Hotel at South Brisbane. I have performed with a several lineups at the Woodford Folk Festival two years running. They used to give me tickets to take a band up there and do the chalk boards, but it seems not to be possible any more till I become famous.

GUITARS

I play an old Maton Messiah guitar (set up by Chris Melville) and sing my songs. Like many musicians, I have a day job.

INFLUENCES

Like Ed Kuepper, I have entertained various Open C and DADGAD tunings and a sincerity in lyrics. I even have a partial capo, which lets you get some of the same facility as DADGAD without retuning or carting extra guitars.

I saw Martin Stephenson at the Troubador in Brisbane, and it put the desire in me to develop an act again. Thanks Martin.

PERCUSSION

I used to work with Denis and Erin in a percussion group "Beats Working" as a conga player for the pleasure of playing with other musicians. We did a lot of sessions in New Farm Park and Botanical Gardens in Brisbane with a series of gigs at Tongue and Groove Restaurant and street festivals at West End and Moorooka. What we never really achieved was the melodic interest that would have made us a musical band. We did have belly-dancers though.

I would be happy (and a bit surprised) to hear from anyone wishing to perform these songs or who would like to exchange web links.
