GRAHAM GORRIE is primarily a writer and occasional solo performer of original songs - alternative/rock/folk style. Prefers old Maton guitars and low key audiences in moody pubs and folk clubs where people really listen to the lyrics. Words are very important and inspiration comes from old literature and simple things. Currently writing, arranging and recording music for the new Barrellfish album - "Perpetual Meltdown". Will be aiming for general market via iTunes, as well as film and TV.
My own influences include JJ Cale, Ed Kuepper, Elliott Smith, Evan Dando, Martin Stephenson plus all the old standard Beatles, Stones and Bowie. The people I listen to lately are Porcupine Tree, Richard Thompson, Brendan Gallagher, Martin Stephenson. But mostly myself. That is just the way it works out. It is always hard to know exactly what your influences are, or how they come through but the ones written above probably form some kind of clue.
Recently played folk clubs in Brisbane including Mad Ass at the Muddy Farmer in Annerley and Foco Nuevo in West End.
History includes performances in a 3 and 4 piece outfit playing at the Melbourne Hotel, the Royal Mail Hotel at Goodna, Burke's Hotel at South Brisbane doing mostly originals and some blues covers - Savoy Brown, JJ Cale, Doors.
Performed with a several lineups at the WOODFORD FOLK FESTIVAL.
I also used to play congas in a percussion group "Beats Working" in New Farm Park and Botanical Gardens with a series of gigs at Tongue and Groove Restaurant and street festivals at West End and Moorooka. We had belly dancers even.
I play an old 1982 Maton Messiah guitar (set up by Chris Melville) and sing my songs. Drive old cars and play old guitars. For some reason I am much happier that way.

I would be pleased (and a bit surprised) to hear from anyone wishing to perform these songs or who would like to exchange web links.
